You can connect to the JoinAfrica network with any 2.4GHz wifi device. Most laptops, many smartphones and a few desktops are sold with this capability as a basic feature; and almost any general purpose computer can be upgraded to have it.
Once you confirm that your computer has wifi capability, you're ready to try connecting to the network. To start, make sure you're within one of the coverage areas listed on our coverage map. If you're within our coverage area, you may now look for our wireless network. The following screenshots show how to connect to connect using different operating systems..
Then right-click and select the property pages for your wireless connection:
In the properties dialog, select the "Wireless Networks" tab and make sure "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" is selected (if you have to select it, then click "OK" to save and open the dialog again), then click the "View Wireless Networks" button:
Click "Refresh Network List", then look for the JoinAfrica network. If you see it, click on it and then click "connect".
